Description: Sexes similar. Dark sandy brown above, white below. Single complete black breast band. White forehead and eyebrow. Yellow legs; and yellow bill with black tip. Seen close up, partial webbing is visible between toes. Juvenile is a paler version of adult with darker legs.

Habitat: Migrants can be found on mudflats, shallow ponds, and muddy banks of slow moving rivers.

Where in Nebraska: Uncommon to occasional spring and fall migrant across the state, but more common in the east.

Fun Facts: Frequently squabbles while feeding. Also named for partial webbing between middle and outer toes.
